Link to Form on a Dashboard via Control Center
We have a custom toolkit in Control Center with many sheets including an action items log, which has a form for new items. We have never included a link or other widget on our project dashboard design, but we're looking at that option now.
I tried using the Shortcut widget, but when a new project is created, the link points to the ORIGINAL log in the toolkit.
Is there another way to accomplish this in the toolkit?

Hi James,
You've got two options. Either way, you'll need to find the url to the form by clicking Forms>Manage Forms, then click the copy link button.
You can add a link to the form as a link widget, OR you can actually embed the form within the dashboard by using the Web Content widget. All you have to do (either way) is paste the URL to the form into the widget.
Hope this helps!
Best,
Heather

Thanks Heather, but that's not the issue. I'm able to create a link or embed the form on a dashboard. The problem has to do with when I create a project with the dashboard via Control Center. Here's a diagram illustrating the issue:
The problem is really with Control Center not recognizing a form link as a RELATIVE path in the projects we create. The link on the PROJECT dashboard always points back to the Action Log in the TOOLKIT/TEMPLATE.

I was just wondering whether anyone had a solution to this issue as we are experiencing exactly the same problem rolling up a set of blueprint templates in Control Centre but not being able to directly link to the associated forms in the templates without having to manually update the links afterwards!

I would be glad to find a solution for this, too! Would be very helpful working with Control Center.

Hi @James Vandezande, @Jen McFarland , and @Tobias Krause
I hope you're well and safe!
Great idea! That would be a great addition to Smartsheet features.
If you haven't already, I recommend submitting an Enhancement Request when you have a moment.
I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic week!

I definitely echo the need for a solution to this as well! We have two form URLS we have to manually update on dashboards every time a project is stood up, and that is very time consuming and has room for error when standing up 300+ projects in Control Center.

I would love to see the ability to do this.

This is the worst design concept ever and defeats the whole purpose of control center. You basically lose the form function on your templates because it's not feasible to relink all the forms on every project. Why do other URLs update, like links to dashboards in the templates but not the forms? Makes no sense.

Was there a solve found for this?

We're encountering the same issue now and would love to see the ability for the link to reference the provisioned items, and not the toolkit.
