We have a work around but it takes multiple helper columns and complex formulas.
You need WBS numbering

👍️ x 1,000. The template-based solution is appreciated, but clunky and high-overhead for what is really an essential function.
I'm not seeing anything recent about a possible ability to create a hierarchical Work Breakdown Structure (think org chart), then convert it to a project schedule sheet (parent and child). Would love to see that as a View, in addition to Card, Gantt, Grid and Calendar. The lack of a WBS that converts to a Grid View is a loss when moving from MS Project to Smartsheet. Does this have any hope of consideration?
I love that this creates the numbering I have been looking for sub-rows, but I have a question... If I have another sheet with an index collect formula can I just pull the parent row? My use case is an HR sheet with employee names and sub-rows of their certifications. I have another project sheet for employee health and I want to only pull the employee names over (parent row).
Please add a system column for WBS to give a true WBS without having to manually create one which is not always easy.
Hi Julie,
you are not alone; I asked the same question and no solution on this one.
Also tried to test out uploading the excel template with the WBS charts and failed. That's just not something that Smartsheet supports. The work around is to manually create the WBS visualization outside of Smartsheet and host the link in the dashboard that the end user can click on. I have hard time to believe this is not a feature in the Smartsheet.
Basically, we need to do it manually first even we have WBS created and manually update when there are any changes.
there is a Project with Work Breakdown Schedule (WBS) | Smartsheet I think it should be there for better visualization @Genevieve P. @Tom Zylstra

The devs should be able to use Parent(WBS) to make this happen. Technically, this should not generate a cyclic error since a task should never be its own parent. I understand that the programming will flag it if we do it, but it should work if this field is added to the Project Settings as a special column - the same way it was done for Start Date, Duration, etc.
Most of the solutions on the web fail when you insert data or rows so be careful with them.
I have a workflow with nearly 40 automations, half of which are email-based requests for updates with various sets of triggers. While I know the automations work, due to months of testing, when our system went live to the institution, I became very worried that the automations wouldn't run and I'd have no idea whether or…
Description: When users upload multiple photos in one action via the Smartsheet iOS mobile app, all files are assigned the same generic name and timestamp. This makes it difficult to identify individual photos and creates confusion in workflows that rely on accurate, unique file naming. Why This Matters: Industry Standard:…
I am proposing bringing a bit of pizzazz to Smartsheet by having celebratory animations for certain criteria. Think Joyful Animations in Outlook! My team was hoping to have some sort of confetti pop/gif/image when we close out a project or hit a milestone. Bonus points if it is configurable like the automations are.
