Resource Management - Restriction of Projects in Time Tracking

Hello,

I'm piloting some time tracking in the resource management module of smartsheet. Employees have a "suggested" timesheet for tracking time, however, they are also able to select any project I have loaded into Resource Managment. Is there a way to restrict projects from employees? I don't want someone to charge time to a project in error.

Hi @Troix ,

There currently isn't a way to restrict time tracking for specific users and projects in Resource Management. 

When you have a moment, please submit your feature request to the Product team by signing in to the online Community (the Community uses your Smartsheet account to sign in) and create an Idea post in the Smartsheet Product Feedback and Ideas topic. 

Posting your enhancement in the Community will allow other Smartsheet users to see and vote on your idea! The top-voted posts in this category are reviewed monthly by the Product team and you'll receive an email notification if a status changes for a post you've created or voted on. 

With the current functionality you can, however, set approval workflows for users who submit time see this article for more information. This way the designated approver could reject time submitted for the incorrect projects.

Alternatively, if your resources do not necessarily require a license to access Resource Management, you may add them as Managed Resources and have some licensed user to submit time on their behalf. This should keep the chances of incorrect submissions to a minimum.
