Problem with conditional formatting hierarchy
I'm not getting something to do with conditional formatting. I thought that the rule higher up in the list takes priority over the rule further down the list. Why, in this case, is my row 1 both orange and crossed, if it is done (higher rule, supposed to be crossed but not coloured) , while also was due in the next 3 days (which is supposed to be uncrossed and orange). What I want is when something is "done" to turn clear and crossed irrespective of any other rules that it has, and I thought I would have achieved this by putting the "done" rule at the top. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Hi,
I hope you're well and safe!
Ensure that you've selected the background color in the first rule.
Did that work/help?
I hope that helps!
Be safe, and have a fantastic weekend!

Ah! I had selected 'no background' thinking that would be clear of colour. I see now that if you want to disable any colours from lower rules, you have to select the top rule to have background colour 'white'. Not very intuitive but it works, thanks for a very quick response.

Excellent!

Another question if I may: my top rule, as above, is to have crossed out black text on white background when something is 'done'. My second rule involves bold font when something is 'critical' and so on. Despite not having B (bold) selected for the first rule, it turns the text BOLD if the task is both 'done' and 'critical'. I've tried refreshing, and pressing B for first task on and off, it just doesn't want to turn text not bold. If the task is 'done' but not 'critical', it works fine (text not bold). What other (hidden?) feature am I missing here? Thanks.

I'm always happy to help!
You can't format it not to be bold, so Smartsheet will go from top to bottom, and as far as it's, something new that is lower will still be added if true.
Make sense?
