How to share a Dynamic View based on a group/project

Hello,

I would like to know if it is possible to share a dynamic view based of a Smartsheet group or similar. I have a sheet that records requests from multiple users that work on different projects in the company. Right now, I create an individual Report using a master sheet based on the project number and share it with multiple users if they work on that project. My idea is to create a dynamic view using the master sheet and that it restricts the view of a user based on what project they work on. If there is a way I can create a group per project so all users that are part of that group only sees the request for the projects they are part of.

Hi @Carlos HC

Unfortunately you can share a dynamic view to a group but you cant tailor the data within the dynamic view based on a group.

But….

If you create a report of the master sheet that includes a contact column and have that column pull contacts on a multi select contact column from a master project contact sheet that you would need to create and maintain, you could set the report to filter by current user and then the Dynamic View would only show items that are relevant to projects that person is assigned to.

Downside is that you will have to maintain the listing of contacts against projects

Upside you will only have a single report and dynamic view to manage

Thanks for your answer. It does sound like an option. Even if doing it by Group, somebody would still have to maintain the groups. This will at least decrease the number of reports per project needed to be created and will allow viewers to filter in Dynamic View (they can't do it on a report)

The contacts aren't populated in the sheet currently. Looks like that is what I will have to do.
