With so many posts about this why has this feature not been added or fixed?
The fact that this is not a feature in Smartsheet makes it extremely difficult and inefficient to accurately determine schedules. We are utilizing Smartsheet to build out our schedule the production and forecast the completion of our products.
All of our products are made on the same machine and are dependent on the item currently being manufactured to be completed before we can start the next. I utilize the predecessor column but it doesn't take into account the completion of the item above. It is solely tied to the Start/Finish date columns. If there is a snag in production and a project doesn't finish on time you have to manually adjust the pred column or start column.
Allowing automations or formulas to change the Start or Duration Columns of dependent items based on project status seems like it could really improve the accuracy of schedules by reducing manual data entry requirements. People often forget to modify the start or finish date columns and simply move on to the next project throwing the schedule for dependent items out of whack.
Please Help! 😖Our company has been using Smartsheet for 7 years and I personally love it. However, other individuals in our company are pushing to change to Airtable. This, among other missing features/abilities only strengthen their argument to change.
