Data Shuttle not adding entries

Options

Hi all,

I'm coming here for help. I'm currently trying to combine about 33 excel sheets into one file using data shuttle. Now the issue is that I might have as many as 3-5 people working on the same project. However, when I try to load the data, if the project code is already there, it does not add entries with the same project code from other sheets.

Is there some kind of workaround that will let me load multiple same project IDs in?

I was thinking of Auto-Number column, but Shuttle doesn't let me use that as a unique ID column.

Below is my standard setting:

Thank you!

    Hi Michaela

Do you use Office 365? In one of similar situations in the past, I used Microsoft Flow to merge multiple Excel files into one, curated with additional information (in this case, it will be sheet name for creating a unique ID), and then Data Shuttle taking over this consolidated sheet. I will be glad to show you how it works. Feel free to let me know if you need to see this in action.

    Hi Michaela

How if you add another column in all 3 sheets with sheet names and merge the project name and sheet name to create a unique identifier column. By doing this, you are ensuring that the unique identifier is different in all sheets, even if the project names are same.

Let me know if this helps.

    HI @Amit Wadhwani ,

thank you for your advice. I do forsee multiple issues with that such as users deleting the fields/columns or accidentally deleting the concatenate formula. Additionally, each excel would have to be revisited monthly to drag-fill the formula into new cells. Is there possibly another solution that comes to your mind other than having a separate upload Smartsheet for each excel file and then combining them into a single report?

    Hi Michaela

I understand. Do you mind if I ask you where are these files located? Do you use OneDrive or Google Drive?

    Hi @Amit Wadhwani,

they are not stored on any of those. They're stored in a secure location on company server. Our ops team member would manually drag/drop them as attachment into the designated Smartsheet so the data from them can populate accordingly.
