Time-Based Automated Workflow where date field is linked from separate Smartsheet sheet

I have a summary page that pulls in key dates from other sheets. I set up automated workflows based on those date fields, and found that they don't run (I assume they don't recognize the data in the date fields).
This feature would be extremely useful for me. Is it something that would be considered?
