I've raised this issue to Smartsheet Support and have basically been told that the formatting issue that is persistent from Smartsheet to Excel via the auto-send feature is not a problem, per se, but would fall under the product enhancement category.
Sadly, this is a very disheartening as the feature auto-sends just like my sheet/report appears if I send via PDF. Doing so via Excel it doesn't export date fields or wrapped columns correctly, thus the date field is just text and all columns are sized the same. See screenshot below.
If I simply export via Excel, all data and formatting remain in place. It's just the auto-send feature in which this issue happens, and I have several of these set in place for various reports.
This feature would be a wonderful improvement for the user experience.
