shh - i am secretly addicted to SmartSheet badges

We use the Calendar for our operational Priority One outage tracking. That was our first full team use of SmartSheet, and our longest running.

I never dabble with board view, it is something i need to remember to use.

And the timeline view is so much more modern looking than the gantt chart. I just keep forgetting to use it.

I am going to admit I am into the OG Grid View. The familiarity of working in a spreadsheet view is what I feel the most comfortable with at the jump. Depending on the project or aspects of the project I have found that utilizing Card View has been the best way to show videos and the status for each for a stakeholder especially when you have 60+ videos to keep up with. 😏

I Prefer Grid view for formulas and calculation, timeline when we need to track timeline and card view for easy dragging and dropping the values.

I am a huge fan of grid view as we manage a large pool of users and track their progress through a lengthy training process. It allows me to easily hide columns I don't need to see at that time and implement all sorts of date, check box, and status columns.

I am still very much into the ever reliable Grid view.

However, I am loving the Table view more as it kind of makes the page look alive especially on sheets where I have conditional formatting on.

    Impossible to Choose!

I gravitate towards the grid view as my preferred perspective. Its familiarity and simplicity make it a natural starting point when initiating new projects with clients. By establishing a solid foundation in this view, I am able to expand and explore other perspectives as needed. The release of the Timeline view has been a source of excitement for my director, as it has proven invaluable in effectively roadmaping our projects. Previously, I had to rely on PowerPoint to visualize project timelines, but now, with the Timeline view, I can save a significant amount of time.

When working with intake teams, I have observed a preference for the board view, particularly due to its swimlanes feature. This view facilitates effortless assignment management and enables us to pivot and prioritize tasks fluidly. The kanban-style boards provide a clear understanding of workload distribution and allow for efficient tracking of assignments.

On the other hand, my project management customers heavily rely on the Gantt views, often incorporating them into reports and dashboards. The Gantt view serves as a valuable tool for stakeholders, offering a concise and comprehensive overview of project progress and timelines.

Additionally, the Calendar view emerges as a common destination for everyone I collaborate with at some point. It serves as a roadmap, displaying due dates, start dates, go-live dates, and other essential milestones. While the Calendar view is indispensable to our work, there is room for improvement in terms of formatting.

In summary, my preferred view is the grid view, providing a solid starting point for project initiation. The release of the Timeline view has enhanced our ability to effectively roadmap projects. The board view is favored by intake teams, while the Gantt view is heavily relied upon by project management customers. Ultimately, the Calendar view serves as a crucial tool for tracking and visualizing upcoming deadlines and milestones.

Love grid view! I can do so many formulas that help with report generations and automations. Grid view is the core of my planning and development. GAANT view is a close second as it does help with discussing information while allowing quick changes to the sheet.

I've just realized how much the Gantt View helps us plan better.

Once the data are set though the Grid, I go take a look at the Gantt view and it helps me visualize the time span and the actual planning much better. I then get to reorder the relations between tasks, and this certainly improves the overall project plan.

Thumbs up for the Gantt View, too.

I work with various people who often see things differently and depending on their requirements I need to be one or more and sometimes all views on any given day.

As a contractor who analyzes, packages, and visualizes data for many levels of different organizations I need to be able to dip in and out of views rather quickly to tell the current story and show the potential future ones.

Grid view for me as I mainly build spaces for my colleagues and work with formulas and create forms.

I love the grid! While I appreciate the standard Gantt, and the Timeline view has literally revolutionized my ability to provide a nice clean visual for static reports in ppt, when I'm in a sheet, I'm always in grid mode!

  • I primarily use Grid View because it offers a clean, tabular format that’s perfect for tracking tasks and managing data efficiently. The ability to customize columns and rows allows me to tailor the view to my specific project needs, making it easier to update and retrieve information quickly. It’s like having a powerful, flexible spreadsheet right within Smartsheet.

  • I use all of them, but my preference is grid and card view.

  • I tend to stick with the classic Grid View, but I do like a good Gantt View for tracking schedules.

The new Board View looks like it will be very useful for tracking to do items.

Within my organization, we use grid view quite a bit, but I built our department's portfolio management intake process with Smartsheet. When we meet with the managers three times a week, we use the card/board view to show where our intake items are in the process. Most of our end users of this also use the card/board view. For project management purposes, however, I use quite a bit of the grid view :)
