Approval sent to only one of 8 choices

Hi - I work in higher ed and I am trying to create an application that when a field is changed to one of 8 choices, that only the choice selected gets contacted for approval. For example, the school chair A is what is selected in the field of drop-down menu choices. How do I set up the automation, that only Chair a is emailed for approval and not all 8 chairs? Additionally, I want the response in the Chair approval column to change based on what the chair indicates.

    You can add your chairs to your contact list first. Then change the column type of Chair as Contact list. That way you can now select any of your Chairs from the dropdown of the column or just typing in a few letters of their names. You should also have a trigger column to send approval request. For example, when you select Send from a dropdown, it will trigger the workflow and send the approval request.

    Now go the workflow section and create a new workflow. After setting up the trigger using the Send column. For next part, you will have the Action section. Select Request an approval. In the recipient section change from Send to Specific People to Send to Contacts in a Cell. Now select the Coach column here. You may need to change your workflow settings to un-restrict it.

    You can now modify the Approval message and information to be sent. Make sure you include "a comment' for the fields selected to be sent or select all fields. That's how the approver will be able to put a comment while approving.
