Smartsheet - Jira Connector Custom Fields

Hi Smartsheet Community,

We are trying to integrate Jira with Smartsheet via Jira Connector and found that only system fields are available for selection and none of the custom fields show up in Smartsheet for bidirectional integration.

Our bidirectional integration is successful for Jira System Fields but not unable to select the Jira custom fields in the Smartsheet integration set up referring to the Smartsheet's Integration screen.

Second question is what custom field types are supported and not supported in this Jira Smartsheet integration? (ex: Is single selection dropdown value, date fields supported?)

Please let me know and help on how can I resolve this issue.

    Hi @VP 2064,

You can definitely sync custom fields and date and dropdown types should be supported.

I could be out on a limb here, but are the Jira custom fields associated with the screens for the tasks types you're looking to sync? I seem to recall they might need to be to show up to select from.

  • Please can you answer the 2nd question from the original post?

    Hi @John Buhler!

The Jira Connector supports most standard custom field types as long as they’re exposed via the Jira API. However, there are some limitations:

    • Supported Fields: Custom fields with standard field types created within Jira are supported. This includes field types such as Picklist, Number, Text, and Date.
    • Limited or Unsupported Fields: Fields added by external Jira apps or plugins, fields in Jira Service Desk or Jira Portfolio, and third-party fields (e.g., Tempo for Jira) are not guaranteed to work and are not officially supported.
    • Story Points: Support for the field Story Points is Jira version-specific.
    • Other Exclusions: The Connector does not sync issue comments or attachments.

For more information, you can check the Smartsheet Jira Connector FAQs.

I hope this answers your question!

    Cheers,
    Isaac.
