Automation Errors - Not going to Correct Approver
Hi everyone,
I'm encountering a problem with my workflow automation for system change requests. I have three separate workflows, each corresponding to a different set of manager and director approvals.
Expected Behavior:
- Country X: Manager 1 -> Director 1
- Country Y: Manager 2 -> Director 2
- Country Z: Manager 3 -> Director 2
Actual Behavior:
- Country X: Manager 1 -> Director 2
- Country Y: Manager 2 -> Director 1
Country Z is functioning as expected.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Rebuilt the workflows multiple times
- Changed email addresses several times
Additional Information:
- Automation restrictions are not in place.
Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Hi James,
It's not very typical behaviour of Smartsheet workflows. As those are 100% accurate.
It's difficult for me based on your problem description to figure out what can be the issue.
but….
Instead of having 3 different workflows have you considered having only one? and for each director to have different condition? You can have many Paths of conditions to be met before sending to Director 1, 2 or 3 …all in one workflow.
I think it will be much easier to manage and see errors as well.

Thanks Tomasz, I did think that having the 3 may be an issue as almost they are tripping over each other and could confuse it. At the time it seemed easier to visualize the separation at the time, but I might have taken a shortcut there.
Let me try it out and see !

@kowal Looks like it worked! There were a few changes to the status columns, but it seems to be working as intended. Thanks for the final push I needed to get this automation reconciled.
