Cell History

Hello,

I know I can see the cell history. What I would like to get is chart or explanation (tried the AI tool) of how many fail move to pass in a day. Is this possible? I have 200+ rows and would rather not click on each State field to get this information.

Workaround: Use an Archive Sheet for Historical Tracking
Since Smartsheet doesn’t natively support analyzing cell history, you can create an Archive Sheet where rows are periodically copied (daily or weekly) using Smartsheet Automation. This allows you to track changes over time and calculate metrics like the number of rows transitioning from "Fail" to "Pass."

Steps to Implement

1. Create an Archive SheetThis is a separate Smartsheet where you will store daily/weekly snapshots of your data.
   Set Up an Automation Rule to Copy Rows
2. Go to Automation > Create Workflow.
   Set the trigger as “When rows are changed” or schedule it to run daily/weekly.
   Add the condition to filter only rows with updates in the "State" column.
   Use the action “Copy row to another sheet” and select your Archive Sheet.
3. Track Changes in the Archive SheetSince rows are copied regularly, each snapshot will provide historical records.
   Add helper columns (e.g., Date of Snapshot, State) to calculate metrics.
4. Calculate Metrics in the Archive SheetUse Smartsheet formulas to count transitions:
   Filter rows where "State" changed from Fail to Pass.
   Use COUNTIFS or other logic to calculate how many transitions occurred in a specific period.
