Hi Community friends!

I'm so very happy that it's June, almost half way through 2025 already! *audible gasp* It's summer over here in the UK and that means holidays and visitors… stick with me to the end of the newsletter to learn more about my new (old?) home.

A lot happened in our May Newsletter - shout out to @Maxwell Griffith for his epic achievement in the Boston Marathon! Here are some updates from the last month as we head into June:

“The Community has become my go-to space whenever I have downtime at work. I often browse the Unanswered section and try to help others by recreating their scenarios and finding solutions. This habit has exposed me to use cases I wouldn’t have encountered otherwise, and it's pushed me to think creatively and explore new ways to solve problems.”

Overachiever's Motivation Mix

The Smartsheet Overachievers are here to give you the songs that will keep you going and keep you achieving! Here’s what’s on the playlist right now.

Craig David - Fill Me In

“This song always uplifts my mood which is key for motivation for me! It reminds me of growing up dancing in the kitchen with my mum and sister with the radio on. This tune still perks me up with the nostalgia.”

More about Genevieve:

As you may have seen in last October's newsletter, I'm back to living in Edinburgh, Scotland. In the last two weeks I've had 3 sets of visitors come through (from Portsmouth 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿, Seattle 🇺🇲, and Victoria 🇨🇦) - it's been such a joy to see this city again through their eyes!

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 A few fun facts:

  • Scotland's national animal is a Unicorn.
  • Edinburgh’s Balmoral Hotel clock runs 3 minutes fast to help travelers catch trains (it's immediately outside the train station)
  • Jekyll and Hyde was written in Edinburgh (along with Harry Potter and many other novels and poems, of course!)
  • The Haggis is a small, furry creature with asymmetrical legs roaming the highlands (or is it?)

What are some fun facts about your city/country?

Having the Unicorn as the national animal is way cool, @Genevieve P.! 🦄

Continuing the animals theme, here's a fun fact about San Pedro, Costa Rica: this isn't a rural area at all, but if you're lucky while walking around the UCR campus, you might spot a sloth hanging out on a tree. 👀

    Hi @Genevieve,

ahhh, Edinburgh, very good memories from my weekend there a few years ago :-)

Fun fact about my city, Frankfurt am Main (Frankfurt at river Main), "Frank" refers to the tribe of "the Franks" and "fort" refers to the ford they found here.
And from the Thirty Year's War, there still is a cannonball sticking in the wall on the northern side of river Main.

The eagle is the Frankfurt animal, but I'd prefer a unicorn ;-)

Hello Stefan, your city is famous for many things, including Paulaner and Krombacher beers, two of my favorite ones (along with Veltins, Warsteiner and Bitburger). Hopefully, around next year, I'll go a visit my brother in Bochum, North-Rhine-Westphalia and drive south east (I believe) to your beautiful city, Frankfurt. Es wird eine tolle reise!

I am so jealous! My soul belongs to Scotland! Was there in 2019 and looking forward to a longer trip next time!

I am in the St Louis MO area (US).

Fun facts: 1904 World's Fair introduced ice cream! We have the Gateway Arch. I live across the river in IL where we produce the most horseradish AND produce the most Easter Grass worldwide!

    Hi Genevieve,

Thanks for sharing your adventures with us!

There are so many fun facts about my hometown (San Diego, California, USA) that I had a hard time selecting just a few!

Animals - With the San Diego Zoo and the Safari Park right here, it's amazing. I actually got to feed an apple to a young Rhinoceros at the Safari Park many years ago on their Photo Caravan experience right down inside the animal enclosures. And there are real live panda bears at the Zoo.

Farms - There are over 7,000 small farms within San Diego County, the largest number in any one county in the United States.

Products - San Diego is the largest producer of Avocado fruit in the United States.

I hope that you get a chance to visit my hometown, it's amazing.

Hi Genevieve - it's great to hear about you - and Scotland! I hope to check it out someday!

One fun fact about my city is that it is home to the largest indoor-outdoor museum complex in the US (The Henry Ford). :)
