Resource Assignment based on a Vlookup?
I am creating templates for repeatable "projects." I would like to have a column of "Role Assigned" and set up a table (filled in when the template is used) that associates a specific person (Contact) with each role. Then in each row, a Vlookup would be used to automatically fill in the "Assigned To" contact name from the table. That "Assigned To" should then function properly for all notifications and reminders. The formula doesn't seem to work to bring in the person so I don't know if notifications or reminders work either. Any hints?

Hi Mark,
There currently isn't a way to automatically assign people to items in a Contact list column (through formulas or otherwise). When you have a moment, please submit a Product Enhancement Request (using the form under Quick links on the right of the community site) and let our Product team know that you'd like to see this functionality added to Smartsheet.
Note that formulas can't be placed in Contact list columns (you'll receive an error).

Hi Mark,
You can use formulas in contact columns now.

Hope that helps!
Have a fantastic day!
