Update Request which create a new row
Looking to have an update request that would create a new row (much like a form would do). Here is the situation:
- Row with Project Name, PMs, etc... A PMs has more than 1 project.
I need to calculate the weekly hours for stats purposes. If I use a form, the PM must submit it and then click back on the email again and submit again (as many time as projects he has) whereas the update request there is a "next" button.
An alternative would be to copy the content of the rows to the bottom of the sheet before the update request is sent but this would have to be done automatically.
Anyone has a clever suggestion?

Forgive me if I am not reading it correctly, but one thing I do in instances where a single collaborator enters multiple new lines at a time is play with the forms advanced settings. You can set it to auto reload the same form (but blank for a new entry) without any backtracking. Another thing you can do is set one of the columns as a contact column. When entered in the form as a contact, you can setup automatic date centric rules to have update requests on existing rows sent to the originator.
Would any of the above help?

Hi,
A possible workaround could be to use a third-party solution like Zapier or similar to make a copy of the row after the update request has been submitted.
Would that work?
Have a fantastic day & Happy Holidays!

Hi Christopher, thanks for the feedback. I already have them set up as a contact in the column, which is why I would like to use an update request. However, this is updating the row and it would not be working. As for the form, I like the idea to have it auto reload but in my advanced settings in forms, I only see the "remove SmartSheet Logo" options.
I added a jpg to make it clearer

That would work! I would get my "easy for my PMs" update request and copy the new update to preserve history...
I guess I will need to figure out how Zappier works...
Thanks Andree

Sorry about that... it was in the regular settings window. Not advanced. Was going by memory.
Glad some of it helped.
