Just as a new chapter to this comment...mid 2022 and this exact issue is still happening. Testing Kelly's workaround. Fingers crossed. š¤

I experienced the samme invalid user issue. The suggested solution by Nathan H (07/19/19) resolved my problem.

So do any of you get this error after a user leaves the company and both their Jira and Smartsheet accounts are deactivated? If so, what do you do? We just had a user leave, and his hundreds of closed tickets suddenly errored out 3 weeks after he left. He'd had his email set to be viewable, so while he was here, it worked fine. But now, that he is gone, he's apparently invalid. I read the solution that said you have to pull in their Display Name instead, but I need that column to stay a contact column so we can keep sending automated emails to the Assignee. (Side note, we don't unassign Jira tickets when closed as policy, and I can't keep him active as that burns a license.)
