date stamp for checked column
I am looking for a way to date stamp a check in a column. I have employees who conduct monthly inventories of tool kits and would like to show that they are doing them on time. I have this set up with a column for each month after the kit and individual tools are populated in rows. I would like them to be able to check each tool as they inventory (or scan a QR code with their phone attached to each tool to check the box) and have the column next to the month date time stamped. As of now the next row just turns green, but there is no way to prove that I didn't check all the boxes for the year yesterday. Thank you for any ideas.

Hi Steve,
The third-party service/integration Zapier is an excellent option for this scenario. Is that an option for you?
Another workaround would be to structure the solution differently and automatically lock rows after they checked the box.
Would that work/help?
Have a fantastic weekend!

Depending on your specific need, you could also use the Cell History function that shows history on each cell.

Hope that helps!

I am just exploring the possibilities with smartsheet now. I don't think I will be trying to integrate other things as of now.
The Second may work although it is a little hard to lay this out in my head in a way that is user-friendly. I may have to play with it a bit.

I tried viewing the cell history of the cell set to turn green with the check on the previous cell. It did not give me much. I didn't look at the cell that has the checkbox. May dig into that a bit.
Thanks, Steve

You'd need to check the cell with the checkbox.
I might have another idea. I'll get back to this post if it works out.

We've tried similar processes but determined to have the employee input the dates that completed something rather than check the box. I know timestamps are something that Smartsheet has mentioned as a possibility in the future, but there is no roadmap for us to review. I recommend submitting a product enhancement request.
