Capturing Approval Dates

I didn't see a solution to this anywhere, but I was wondering if there is an easy way to capture the approval date and put that date in another cell. I'd like to use this as a predecessor to another task, and if the approval is late, the other dates adjust.

I want approvers to easily see how their delaying approval of a task impacts the completion date of the project.

Hi,

Unfortunately, it's not possible at the moment to freeze the date from the modified column, and that's what's needed, but it's a great idea!

Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment.

As a workaround, you could use the third-party integration called Zapier, which works perfectly for this scenario.

You could also use an update request to have the approvers manually input the date.

I have another potential solution for this if multiple sheets are an option for the problem, but haven't tested it extensively.

First you create a “Date Signed” column in the original sheet and references the Modified Date column (=Modified@row).
Next create a workflow automation to move the row to a new sheet when the approval field changes to “approved”.
When moving rows to new sheets you lose the formula, so on the new sheet the “Date Signed” column will be a date value instead of a formula, effectively saving date.

I’ve used this where I have a sheet for submitted items and move them to a sheet for approved items after approval.
