Reminder Notifications: translate from templates to new sheets?
Loving Smartsheet so far, and excited about finally having a truly custom system together for tracking project status for our clients, based on our unique parameters and not something superimposed!
I've created a template that is working well, but would love to see reminder notifications translate from the template to newly created sheets. For instance, marking certain rows (project phases) for automatic reminders based on due date, which would exist as soon as we input the actual date fields. Having to do this over and over for each new project is a bummer!
Is there any way to accomplish this, or can this functionality be added, pretty please?

Check out this thread where I answered a similar question: https://community.smartsheet.com/discussion/when-i-build-sheet-template-can-i-keep-reminders-active-new-sheet

In project templates I have created, I add tasks in the template at the beginning to manually create the notifications and reminders needed so the project manager doesn't forget.
-
Can this be a feature request? I have created tasks and the specific users do not change from template to template and having to create Alerts every time a new sheet is created from the template is just too time consuming. We can generate 2 to 10 sheets from a single template in a day for tracking RFP's. Is there something else that can be done that I am missing?

Les - have you tried sheet level reminders? You can set a single reminder which will be set for every task in your sheet. For example, "send a reminder to whoever is assigned to the task on the due date". This can be set through the Alerts tab.

Thank you for the response Bob. I suppose I am so new I am unable to follow exactly what you are saying. I see I can set reminders for the sheets but the information does not appear to remain static from within the templates.
So I just tried the following:
Used template to create new sheet
Set Alert to send email when item changed
Saved sheet
Saved as template
Used template to create new sheet
Alerts not within the new sheet
As I said before, maybe I am too young at SS and am missing something. Suggestions?

Sorry if I wasnt clear! You are correct in that you cannot templates do not keep reminders or notifications. I was suggesting a quick way to set reminders on your sheet once it was created from a template. The sheet level reminder allows you to set a single reminder which applies to all rows in your sheet.

I appreciate the response Bob. Guess back to the drawing board and hoping that it becomes a feature within templates as it is logical for that option to be there.

Hi Les! Thanks for the suggestion, I will submit this as an enhancement request to our Product team!

I second Bob's request for an option that allows templates to retain the alerts set in the Sheet the template is created from. We would like to use the same templates repeatedly, but having to manually enter the row reminders is tedious and time consuming. It also creates a lot of room for error since there are so many of them.
I know this post is old, so hopefully we are getting closer to a solution.

Hi,
You can add my vote for a that new feature as well. It would be awesome if reminders setting of a template could follow in the new sheet created from that template!
-
Agreed! Please add my vote for this enhancement. Since this was added to the enhancement list 18 months ago is there any update on the status?

You can add my vote for that new feature as well. It makes undoubtful sense that reminders setting of a template to naturally follow in the new sheet created from that template.
-
I would like to add my vote for this functionality as well. It would be a huge time saver as we use the same template for 15-20 project schedules. Any updates on whether this might be added?
-
Please add my vote for this too. Just tried to add a general alert reminder to the template and found it doesn't save it. A checkbox option to save Alerts when saving as Template would be very useful.
Thanks!

Add my vote for this enhancement as well. Thanks!
