Smartsheet Form Multi Entry
Hi All,
Just have a query regarding Smartsheet forms. I am currently setting up a form to track consumables for a project. The project may have up to 20/ 30 different consumables associated with it.
Is it possible to use a multi-select dropdown for the user to enter these consumables which in turn will enter the required consumables on a new line?
Getting the user to submit 25-30 different forms isn't feasible - while creating 25-30 separate columns to track each consumable and then try to pivot that data within Smartsheet also won't work.
Any ideas/ workarounds would be greatly appreciated.

Do you mean the form user would select various options in a multi-select, and each option would populate its own row?

Yes Paul exactly spot on.
A multi select would have to be used to ensure data integrity, eliminating any potential typos etc. Do you think some sort of solution could be possible?

The only way I can think of to POSSIBLY automate it is to use a 3rd party app such as the API or Zapier. @Andrée Starå has MUCH more experience and knowledge than I do surrounding those.

Thanks for your help with this Paul, I am open to any potential solutions (Smartsheet or Third party)

This one is tricky.
How many submissions would there be on a daily basis? How many users?
Be safe and have a fantastic week!

Hi Andree,
Thanks for getting back to me. From what I understand this form will experience fairly high traffic with 50 - 100 submissions per week.
After conducting my own research I have decided to opt for a SharePoint/ Nintex form based solution. The "Repeating Section" option in Nintex is exactly what I am looking for, something which Smartsheet may consider in future updates.
Thanks everyone for their help on the matter.

Happy to help!
Yes, I agree the Repeating Section feature would be excellent to have in Smartsheet.
