Viewing deleting rows

I've created a sheet that has 165 collaborators.  They need to be able to change cell information. Occasionally the notification will say that a certain number of rows have been deleted.  I need to be able to view what has been deleted to restore.   The size of the sheet is currently 3,000 rows and changes are happening constantly so restoring from a back up is not feasible.  How can I view the deleted rows?

    Sally,

Unless things have changed, once a row is deleted it is permanently gone and irretrievable.
Sheets are in your deleted bin, but rows are not.

    Blessings,

  • Hello Sally,

There currently isn't a way to view deleted rows directly within Smartsheet but if you could take a moment to submit your idea and use case to our Product team, we'd appreciate it!

Depending on your use case, here's some things to consider:

    1. Ask users to Move Rows instead of Delete Rows.

    - set up sheet for them to move to and then you can delete the rows at your leisure.

This takes more user-time, so may have resistance from the user.

    2. Add a check box for [Delete Row] and then automate the Move Row for them.

That takes less user-time, but requires a third party tool like Zapier (www.zapier.com) or API code. This is very easy in Zapier. Limitations are number of sheets you need this for and how many rows are deleted per month.
