Gantt View Weekends
Is there any way when using a gantt chart to get the task bars not to show running through weekends.
This is not a major problem but we have had several of our customers who are more used to using MS Project asking us to show our charts in this way.
The ideal scenario would be if you have set the sheet to a 5 day working week then the sections of the bar that run across the non working time (see crossed areas in snip below) would go behind the weekend shading and not be seen and if you change to a 6 or 7 day working week they would return to being on top.
If this can't be done then thats OK but it would be a great feature improvement for a future update.

To confirm your experience, I could not find any way to limit the weekends from the Gantt view. I would suggest making a Smartsheet Enhancement Request here: https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form?EQBCT=739aa75f30ca43a8a22eb53e4da7d409&_ga=2.40092450.1441934852.1618838650-1589668858.1609254134
I know probably not the answer you were hoping for, but at least you get some confirmation.

I have seen this feature requested multiple times over the years and find it disappointing that it is still not available. SmartSheet makes it very difficult to consider using the tool for reporting, including executive reporting, because there is so much clutter on the Gantt view... predecessor lines, endless unworked weekends, etc. SmartSheet is forcing me to look at other tools with more extensive/modern features so I don't have to create these charts/reports manually.

If this is still not resolved in Smartsheet, you can take a closer look at DHTMLX Gantt. There it is possible to display the weekend elements above the task bars, and there are different ways of how to do that, for example: https://snippet.dhtmlx.com/21w15281
