WorkApps: ADMIN/Editor role

  • Currently the person who creates the work app is the only person that can make changes (add pages, create roles, add users). It would be great if there was the ability to select other users who can make updates. While you can transfer ownership, we typically have resources that back us up, so the ability to make them a Co-Owner would save time having to transfer ownership back and forth.

According to Smartsheet support in order for the product team to review this request you need to Vote up this topic. The top-voted posts are reviewed monthly by the Product team. I have created numerous WorkApps for the different teams I work with. I have allowed/controlled access through 'roles' and 'Group' lists.

It would be VERY HELPFUL if we could assign 'admins' to both WorkApps AND Groups. I find I spend quite a bit of time tweaking both due to team changes as well as external changes.

This is a HUGE gap for WorkApps. I own a WorkApp and when I'm out of the office sick, no one is able to manage the roles or pages.

WorkApps should have the same permission levels as workspaces and sheets— let me assign Admins to manage the day-to-day work while I maintain ownership.

I am doubtful any changes to WorkApps will happen as it seems it’s full steam ahead on Collections instead. I’d imagine they will remove WorkApps within a few years.

My only hope is it’s mirrored features (and of course new ones as well) before that happens. Our struggle with current Collections is you have to be shared with source data to see it in Collections, (Either to source sheet or source sheet/report combo). WorkApps doesn’t have that limitation and we use a lot of WorkApps for external facing Reports and we can’t share the source sheet due to sensitive nature or security. Hopefully that will change as they keep developing Collections. Until then I tell my users not to use Collections as it doesn’t work for our needs.

    My two cents - Michael

Yeah this is very disappointing - WorkApps fits our need very very well - we do not have access to collections to even see if this will replace it.
