It would be very helpful for our work if we could create a mapping to a Google Doc merge template, instead of a fillable PDF format, for the document generation workflow.
Most of our forms are done using Smartsheet Forms, so fillable PDFs are not necessary, but we do create quite a lot of documents using the Smartsheet Merge add-on in Google Docs, and if this process could be automated it would save a good bit of time and manual effort.
For example, when a partner submits a Contract Information Form that directly populates our contract management sheet, we use that information to merge into our standard contract template using Google Docs. But if we could create an automatic workflow that generates that Google Doc for us as soon as the form is submitted, it would speed up our process and let us focus on the remaining steps in the contracting procedure.
I believe that an automated Google Doc merge function does not exist but if anyone has discovered differently, I would love to know! @NTDSC
