How to create a link on a sheet in the row created by a form submission
Form --> Sheet --> DynamicView
We use a form to collect some basic information from new staff regarding remote work. The contents of this form are made available to the managers for review and approval of the remote work conditions. We use DynamicView to display the submissions because it is easy to show each manager only their team members.
Anyone know how to get a hyperlink to be generated on a new row in a sheet when a form is submitted? Then, does anyone know how to get that link to be clickable in a Dynamic View?

Is it the same hyperlink on every row?

Hi @Dale Murphy
I hope you're well and safe!
What should the hyperlink do?
Be safe, and have a fantastic week!

@SmartLew Yes it is the same hyperlink. (I can't get a column formula to create a hyperlink that DV recognizes as a link)
@Andrée Starå It is a URL that takes the person clicking it to a document on our intranet.

Try adding it to a Sheet Summary field and then use a Column Formula to replicate on each row automatically.
Make sure that you add the URL to the Title as well.
Make sense?
Did that work?

@Andrée Starå Using a summary field was clever, and allowed me to ensure I get the value I want onto each row.
However, DynamicView still does not recognize it as a link, and only shows the URL as a text string.
If I (manually) insert a hyperlink using the Hyperlink... process, DV does recognize that as a link.
You mentioned to make sure to add the URL to the title - I am not sure what you mean by that? (If I use the Hyperlink option in the Summary field, it just shows as text on the sheet itself)

my solution to this is to add an extra column called hyperlink or whatever you like
then add this as a hidden field in the form and make the default value the URL you need. This then populates the row every time a form is submitted.
This URL is then clickable in the view display in dynamic view

Truly appreciate the ideas. Neither of them give the desired result though; if you run DynamicView you should try them to see if I have done something wrong.
This screenshot from DV illustrates the outcomes: first is the result of a row insertion by a form with a hidden field with a link embedded. On the sheet it looks fine, but DV only displays as text.
The second is Andree's idea (how I realized it at least!). The summary field idea made it easy to use a column formula that inserts that URL into a cell in the sheet. However in DV the result is the same, namely only a text string.
The third option works. But it is the manual creation of a hyperlink - it looks great and is clickable in DV, but not sustainable.
*** Final edit: BOTH of your ideas work in the View Display portion of DynamicView but they do not work to provide links in the Details Panel. Wow, that was confusing for awhile.
Other ideas?

Happy to "try" and help! 😉
I hadn't tested it with Dynamic View.
Unfortunately, I think it's time for:

Hi Dale,
Yes you are right, it doesn't show in the details panel as clickable, only the view display;this is an issue I've not been able to overcome when using this solution previously. They can copy and paste from the details panel but that's not ideal.
I agree it is a little unsightly to have the link in every row in the view display.
Hope you find a suitable workaround
Thanks
