Hi Community, 

Did you know that you can use Data Shuttle to create dynamic dropdowns?

Dynamic dropdowns with Data Shuttle can automatically update a dropdown list in one location when that list has changed in another location.

I've seen some questions around this in the Community and wanted to call out the new Help Article that explains how to set this up:

Good solution, however Data Shuttle is a premium app so may not work for many. Would have been nice if we could define a Sheet at the Workspace level or Folder level as "the Source" for Dropdowns in any sheets within that scope (Workspace/Folder) and any updates to the values in that "source" sheet can be used to update dropdowns defined in the sheets using them, may be through automation workflow or so.

Does this also apply to Control Center? Kind of tedious to update Contact Lists manually since these tend to change quite often.

In Control Center, you can use Global Updates to adjust column lists. Here's more information: Control Center Global Updates: Columns

It's worth noting for anyone else that has the same issue I did with this Data Shuttle continually failing: the length of a dropdown item is limited to 255 characters. If your Data Shuttle is trying to update with dropdown items longer than 255 characters it will fail every time it runs. Truncating the dropdown item to 255 and below immediately solved the error for me.

We need Data Shuttle to be able to use Reports as a source for dropdowns, that way we can filter and sort our list items. Or even allow 'Sort' (up or down) as an option in the Target configuration against each column.

@Adrian Mandile CHESS That's a great suggestion! I'd recommend putting it in as a Product Idea so we have some visibility on it and users can upvote it.
