I have been an avid Smartsheet formula expert for years now and yet I find the formula generator mechanism of the new AI tool extremely insightful and helpful. We work with large datasets, and a multitude of calculations and workflows and having something as handy as an AI tool to generate a complex formula (in my opinion) is a huge game changer as it saves time and increases efficiency. We can move on to bigger agendas on how to solve production issues rather than just typing in formulas to find for how long the prod is stuck. Thank you, Smartsheet AI

    Hello SS Community,

I use AI as much as I can to help draft email communications, update the verbiage on my resume, and brainstorm ideas for different projects. I believe AI is a great resource to use when unclassified information is entered and/or if a person is having difficulty figuring out where to start on professional or educational assignments. There is a lot of aspects about AI that are unknown and I think that it is imperative for organizations to implement this an internal resource for employee to utilize to enhance the organization from within.

    Thank you!

I only used it once to create a formula syntax that I was stuck on….not that I don't think it's going to be a fantastic tool but we have an AI advisory council at the state and I am waiting on their guidance about when I can and cannot use it for government work. Stay tuned!

AI helps write articles for the company newsletter.

  • I have mixed feelings about AI at this time. Part of me is screaming No, we're half-way to 'Terminator' times. The other half realizes the huge potential and uses of AI. I have used it to cleanup my resume, create cover letters, and for cleaning up documentation. I think it's a big win for PM's in regard to documentation. It's like having a secret assistant to make you sound smart and have great grammar!

AI is a proof reader and intrinsic guide for me, it allows me to dump thoughts and organise them far faster than I can do.

AI has taken my job…. to the next level!

With AI I have been able to expand my capacity to create impressive solutions in less time. Using AI to do the time consuming things like creating images / icons for dashboards that are consistent and on brand has opened my time up to do the heavy lifting. With Smartsheet's AI, I am able to streamline formulas that work the first time instead of testing and testing until I get it right.

The key for me is to always balance using AI versus using the good ol' fashioned brain. AI is just that… Artificial Intelligence. It cannot do it all.

I think of AI as a really good personal assistant. No CEO can be great without a (really good) PA that deals with the small(er) things. Someone (or in this case, something) has to deal with these little time eaters so the CEO can focus on the big things that require their human brain.

P.S. Loved reading all your inputs

I am confident that ai can help me in the future, I am just not sure how at this point. I've been doing my own due diligence to stay informed and remain open minded to ensure that once business value is clear I will have some ideas of how I want to apply it when the opportunity presents itself.

    Best Regards,

I use AI for a number of things. I'll have asked for help with writing interview questions to, "Sample vegetarian diet for a daily protein intake of x and iron intake of y" (true story). It is not all bad.

My biggest concern is if it starts putting our creative artists at a disadvantage. I hope that doesn't happen and that as consumers, we will see it an reject it.

Within Smartsheet, the AI help with formulas has been coming in quite handy. I look forward to seeing it improve, but as it stands right now, it's certainly saved me a lot of trial-and-error time. Beyond the Smartsheet environment, I regularly use ChatGPT (in a closed non-training environment set up by my org) to reformat information. Working with international teams means that sometimes I receive dates in DD/MM/YYYY format and other times I get it in MM/DD/YYYY format, and sometimes the formats are mixed on a single file. Having AI revise formats to be consistent is just one example of the more menial tasks I have passed over to AI. Recently I wanted to create a sheet that had a column with all of the months and days listed out (1/1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, etc.) which it was able to provide almost instantly.

For meeting management, I give it pre-read slides before meetings and then tell me questions that it believes should be asked. Sometimes my slides are very science heavy, beyond my personal training, so it's able to break things down into more layman terms and point me in the right direction for thinking about the data and what it will be used for. I type a lot of "notes" verbatim of what folks say during meetings, and after a meeting I provide it what I have captured along with the formal slide deck and have it produce meeting notes for me in the format that I prefer for my own reference, including a section of key information tags that we established so that I can easily search for key topics in my notes more easily at a later time.

I almost forgot - I haven't had new headshots taken in a while so I gave an AI program my last headshot and some more recent photos of me and it generated the photo I'm currently using across my work, including here!

with AI, (in Smartsheet, CoPilot, and all Microsoft apps), the use of AI and ChatGPT allows for the automation and assist with writing formulas, and VBA code (in Excel). Also it is great to help "wordsmith" a letter or email, giving it just the right essence of professionalism.

I tried using Claude.AI recently to help with a Smartsheet formula. Very excited to use more AI functionalities & features in the future - just starting to dip my toes into the water.
