Total Cost Based on Date of Task Being Finished
I am working on charting out dev tasks and need to display what our expected total monthly cost would be based on the tasks finished each month. I am struggling to find out a good way to have this either permanently displayed or easily accessible. I have tried reports but that only displays all of the costs and does not total them. If I create a filter the same thing happens. I want our exec team to be able to look at the project and see how much our cost would be each month without having to click around and do a bunch of math. Is this possible?
PS: If there is a way to have the total costs of tasks finished appear in gantt view it would be ideal.

Hello,
You'll need to create a formula to actually total this. I'd recommend checking out our list of available functions here: https://help.smartsheet.com/functions
I'd also recommend checking out our article on how to create formulas in Smartsheet (it's a little different from excel): https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/2476171-create-and-edit-formulas-in-smartsheet
If you create a new column in your sheet that holds your calculation formulas, you can have the Gantt chart display the total as the label. Steps on this are available here: https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/765755-modifying-project-settings
If you're on a Business or Enterprise plan, you might consider displaying your totals on a dashboard (either with a chart or in a metric widget): https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/518547-creating-editing-a-smartsheet-sight

Honestly... your answer is no answer at all.

Can you clarify what it is you're looking to do? This post is from 2018 so we have some new functionalities in Smartsheet that may be able to help you!
For example, now you can use Grouping and Summaries in Reports to calculate data, see here for more information: Redesigned Reports with Grouping and Summary Functions
If this hasn't helped, it would be useful to know a bit more about your specific process and perhaps see screen captures of your sheet, identifying what you'd like to see (but please block out any sensitive data).
Cheers,
Genevieve
