Card View Functionality
Hello There,
So, this morning I started using Card View. A very cool function so far with the hopes there are some enhancements on the way.
1 - Be able to used you contacts list as a view. I see many have already mentioned this. I read about the 50 limit for drop down lists and contacts are not limited. A way this could be acheived would be to let us select up to 50 from our list when using it as a view.
2 - It would be really nice to be able to do that from any of the drop down list views.
Case being, I have in my drop down list about 30 items. I really only want to see about 5 - 10 at a time. I know you can arrange them so they are in an order but for me that order will continue to change depending on what jobs I have in my shop.
I also am aware that I could filter to those items before going into card view however I am already running several filters and am getting confused, (I know personal problem, right?).
Anyway, I like what I see so far and hope some of the other functionality will become a reality some day.
After thought...
While in card view I noticed the blocks are generally listed in date order. However, I also noticed this is not the case all the time. In some of my columns of blocks I have un-scheduled items falling in the middle of scheduled items and in other columns, I have most of the blocks in date order however, the last items should have gone in at the top according to date.
Is there any information available about what causes the ordering of blocks in the columns?
I know I can manually move them where I want them, but that would be every column would need to be manually organized.
I still think this is a great new function.

Hi Heidi-- Thanks for this feedback! I've already added your vote to support Contact List columns as View By columns in the Card View based on your comments in another thread. I've also added your vote to support hiding lanes in the Card View, which I think will help consolidate the view so only 5-10 desired lanes are shown at once.
Currently, cards are arranged in lanes in the order that the rows are in in your sheet, until you manually rearrange them. We don't currently offer the ability to sort cards within lanes, but I've added your vote for this as well.

Hello Heidi,
I figured out a workaround that works for me.
(Caveat: This is only suitable/reasonable for sheets where your contact list is relatively small & new people are not added often.)
1. You have a sheet with contacts already listed.
a. Example Sheet: Owner
2. Add a Text/Number column.
a. Example Sheet: Owner (Dropdown List)
3. Add this formula to all the rows in this column
a. Formula: =Owner1
4. Change the Text/Number column to a Dropdown List.
a. It will pre-populate with the values in the column (i.e. your contacts)
If you add more contacts in the future, they will show up as ‘Uncategorized’.
To fix this,
1. Change the column type for ‘Owner (Dropdown List)’ back to Text/Number & save.
2. Then change it back to a Dropdown List & will pre-populate with all of the column values again.
It’s not perfect, but it’s something. (:
Hope this helps!

Hi Kris,
WOW, thanks! I'll give that a try. I had something similar but not as clean. Hopefully most of this will be available with the next release.
Thanks Again, Heidi
