I would also love to both hide and freeze rows. I was hoping to be able to hide rows just today and was disappointed I wasn't able to.

I would also love to merge cells! It's such a useful tool in excel and is frustrating to not have that capability in Smartsheet. It would definitely help the appearance of my customer-facing sheets.

This would certainly help with "freezing" rows.
I'm not sure there is a work around for hiding rows, though.

I agree! I'm running into this issue currently. I have a column formula and I tried to make a sub header row that the column formula is interfering with. I will have new rows added to this sheet regularly, so this will difficult to manage. Either I have to remove the column formula and do it row by row, or Forfeit a proper (secondary) heading on that column.

If you want a single row to behave differently yet contain the same column formula, you can always add an IF statement into this column formula, that will single out the particular row, based on a certain label, e.g., "Header" or "Row".

I would like to submit a request to add the option to freeze rows and not just columns, similar to Excel. This is very helpful when creating an outside the box report where headers or data are controlled by formula. An example would be a rolling month column by column. The column headers are labelled as current month, first month, second month and so on. I then converted them to column formulas to create a rolling month to month header so that you never need to hard code a date. I then combine it with another sheet into a report that allows a date header with data following. Freezing the top row would allow for scrolling.

This is quite a basic request for a lot of people asking for, freezing rows is something that we all have used regularly in excel so can we please get this function enabled. Eight years or more this has been a discussion for so is it not possible to enable in the new year.

The fact that this has been requested over and over again since 2015 is mind-boggling! C'mon, Smartsheet, at least explain why you won't do it... your not doing anything about it makes it clear that you won't. I use a free account for Smartsheets for work, but this is a feature I would need to see if I were to consider switching from Excel and paying for an account. You definitely won't have my business until it's added.

Maybe this will help. I'm going to try and write a comment every time I run into this issue, thinking I'm using Excel.
