Hot key for Expand and Collapse Row

As Business Analyst, I'm frustrated when working with large projects that I cannot expand and collapse with a hot key. I find it cumbersome to use a mouse to click the + or - on a row of nested rows to expand or collapse the nested rows. Ideally, I'd like keyboard/hotkey functionality tied to the expand and collapse function for a row only; if I need to expand all or collapse all, I'll happily right click on the column header and perform the function. The problem is when multiple BAs are all using the Smartsheet they collapse sections that I need opened, and when they Save (or auto save takes over), my section is collapsed when I refresh, so I'm needing to quickly expand and collapse mine and other users nested rows. Yes, there are two problem here.

I strongly agree with Jeff. This is something fundamental and as a former software engineer and now Technical Project Manager I find the lack of a key shortcut for expanding and collapsing child rows inefficient. May I also suggest that something like <Ctrl+> and <Ctrl-> since the left hand can use ctrl and the right can hit the + or - which would be intuitive in my opinion. Please implement this. I notice another post on this topic years ago. Lastly, Smartsheet is a great product, keep it up the good work!

I've looked through your extensive hotkey list located at Keyboard shortcuts | Smartsheet Learning Center, and it's a great list tbh. I've found multiple threads (ideas/basic/discussions/support) asking the same question and not getting any traction.

This is and probably will be an ongoing request that is a basic need for plans that are 100s if not 1000s of lines, and Excel/OpenOfficeSheets/GoogleSheets all have this function baked in or easily accessible through configuration.
Most people will probably created a new topic as you see above and not dive as deep as I am right now. I'm doing this based off annoyance for the most part, but also because I (being a large proponent of encouraging Smartsheet usage) I might leave the product itself eventually if this is not something being worked on.
What does this group of community driven folks need to do to get this feature added on your roadmap?

We are looking for some direction on how to proceed with this (old but) new idea post. If you review my comments above along with the other 2 genetlemen in the string (@Jeff Sieben & @bsmith4 ), we're wanting to get some traction on this idea that spans not only this area of Smartsheet Community but many other areas (discussions, etc).
After reviewing FAQs and Guidelines for posting Product Feedback Ideas — Smartsheet Community, I can summarize below what we're trying to achieve based on the rules.
- What problem are you trying to solve? --> No ability to collapse and expand parent rows
- What is your use case? (Describe a scenario or story.) --> Larger sheets with multiple participants makes the experience both for owners and editors/contributors/viewer undesirable. The column expand/collapse is only great with smaller sets of rows.
- What is your ideal solution? --> Both an option to use right-click or hot-key to expand or collapse a row (with children, ie parent).
Can you advise how to help us folks out here? I assumed based on the Guidelines that moderators would have grouped, trimmed, and summarized our ask here since it's been an ongoing issue posted since 2018 within multiple posts (not exhaustive).

Hello all: To clarify, the goal is specifically to use a hot key to expand and collapse child rows under a parent row. and I suggest <ctrl+> and <ctrl-> as this seems intuitive.

I was an active Smartsheet user from 2015-2017 and just started recently using it again. There have been a ton of features added, but it's funny to come back and see stuff like this that still exists. First thing I did in a new sheet with three levels I created was to try right clicking, shift+click, CTRL+click, etc. on a hierarchy to collapse or expand all at that level only to find that you still have to resort to collapsing everything or expanding everything and then manually clicking all of the areas you didn't actually want to expand/collapse. So cumbersome. I hope this gets some attention.

I would love the ability to expand or collapse all levels within a particular parent. Right now you can either expand all/collapse all for the column or you have to click on each +/-. We have large project plans and that's a lot of time spent expanding and collapsing. A sticky key would be great.

Yes, it would also be good to be able to expand/collapse the sheet to a specific Level 2 or Level 3, instead of only Expand All/Collapse All.

Please improve on the functionality of expanding and collapsing parent and children groups.
- Collapse All and Expand All functionality added to sheets in grid and Gantt chart views.
- Hotkey for expanding or collapsing groups.

I would definitely find this capability extremely useful!!!
