My impression: this is the most-requested “feature” update, and the least-listened-to customer feedback

  • Just here to vote for this enhancement as well!!!

We send a document to all new users for their future use. It is very confusing for them to get the link to the sheet that they can't access, in much larger text than the link to the document. Please allow another option in automations to include a message and an attachment without a sheet link.

I am creating a workflow to use a Smartsheet to automate the creation of certificates for recognition. Right now, when automating the workflow to send the attachment out, in between the personalized message there are 7 rows of information, including 1 that is a hyperlink that the recipient will not need before the link to the attachment we want them to get.

This will make it confusing and challenging for the recipient.

The recipient will not need to know the link/title of the sheet, when the changes were made, what changes were made, what row they were made on, and that the changes were made by automation@smartsheet.com before seeing the attachment.

It would save a lot of time if we could have the option for the workflow to be able to send out the message and just the attachment. Right now, we have to download and send these out in an individual process. I have tried to send out the attachments directly from the Smartsheet Attachments panel, and that is very manual as well.

Annual request to see if there are any updates on this feature from the product team 😀. Last update from 2022 indicated this was on the roadmap.

zsoltolah, I'm at Engage, I'll ask. It's super frustrating to find a way to make something work, but it only sorta works.

I asked our rep, he took notes about it. I showed him the issue, and expressed my frustration with how unprofessional it looks to have to setup sending documents this way. I'm heading over to the booths to try and find out more information. On the roadmap for 2 years without an update is unacceptable.

Just adding to the pile on! LOL

I agree. This issue has come up a number of times within my office, and with myself and one other person being the only Smartsheet experts in the entire building, we catch ALL of the complaints. I also agree with @Cleversheet when he says, "this is the most-requested “feature” update, and the least-listened-to customer feedback"

  • seems like I'm not alone with this request…

It would be great (and in my opinion quite normal) to be able to modify the e-mail.
The customer does not need a link to the sheet and would be completely confused (and rightly so).

At the moment, we can't use this function and need to send the attachments manually. A pity for a product that claims to prioritize automation…

  • It would be great if a generated pdf could then directly be emailed to a contact. This is now only possible by including the link to the sheet and some other irrelevant info. The email that is sent is not clear at all and the pdf is even somewhat hidden.

Please provide the option to automatically send the attachment.

I spoke to our rep a second time, after he had checked on it with the team at Engage about this, he said it is on their radar, but if they ever change this, it's a ways out. My spidey senses are telling me they want this to be something extra we'd have to pay for.

The next step is to raise this with our customer success people, dedicated sales reps, and anyone else assigned to our relationships, particularly those paying for Pro Desk support. I forwarded today's notification with HLCrinstiansens's assessment to my reps and reminded them that sometimes the seemingly smallest of enhancements could have the greatest impact on end-user experience. If upvotes and submissions via the enhancement form aren't enough, perhaps good old-fashioned letter-writing via email might move this request closer to the top!
