Emailing attachments without links to sheet

Hi there. Somewhat tech savvy here, but my expertise is in professional development, specifically in healthcare, and I'm falling short of figuring this out on my own.

Here is a little background info. I issue a certificate of continuing education following most of the classes I teach. I have created an evaluation form and have set up an automation to send a certificate to those who complete the form. However, I am not keen on the email containing links to the spreadsheet. I would prefer the email contain only the attachment. I know there are some apps out there that will do exactly this for me, but I would prefer to utilize Smartsheet because my entire team can collaborate and my organization provides it to us for free.

So, is it possible? If not, how can I help to make this a reality?! 😄

I'm afraid I don't know of a nice solution. You cannot send the attachment as an attachment, it has to be a link to download and you can't send that link without including a link to the sheet it is held on. You can however, not allow access to that sheet so whoever you send the link to can't actually see the sheet (but can still download the attachment). But they will have a link to the sheet, and they will click it, and they will request access, even if you write in the email that they should not. 😉

I believe there are some solutions to this on the roadmap. 🤞

Thank you so much, @KPH! I am still new to Smartsheet, so I had not yet heard of roadmap. I can see I am not alone in my frustrations.

If there is something you wish smartsheet could do, but can't, you can search the product ideas and upvote requests for the feature you want, or add a new idea.
