Problem with automation from a contact list

Hello,
I'm having an issue importing email addresses from dataShuttle to a contact list, and using automation from this column. When I set up the automation triggers, it won't send to the emails in the contact list column, because it is saying it is a comment and there is an @email@org.com (just general example of what the comment looks like).
It only gives me an error for like a second when saving the automation. But the automation fails because of this issue. Any Ideas?
