Assigning Colors to Contacts

I use the gantt charts and calendars to make sure my contractors are not in two places at once.  Is there a way to color code each contractor so when I assign a task, it automatically shows in gantt and calendar view as the color assigned to them?  I seem to have to do it to each individual task.  Then the color coding doesnt carry over into my master calendar when I import multiple jobs.  I have to go through and manually color code again.

Use conditional formatting! Set up a rule that says "if the task is assigned to X, color the Gantt bar blue"
