Web Forms and Contacts

PLEASE develop a way for web forms to recognize contacts when you want to include contact names in the rows that are added to a Smartsheet!  It just makes so much sense and would be so helpful!  Right now, we're left to enter in the webform data, then go back into the sheet and re-type the contact person's name so that it recognizes the name as a contact.  Redundancy!

Web Forms are a GREAT function.

Asking for a pulldown for contact names in a Web Form is essential to validate SMARTSHEET as a smart sheet. It's not just a "nice to have" feature, especially when you use Web Forms via mobile devices.

Please explain why you need to put it out for a vote.

It is that difficult to program?

Hi Volker, I understand your concerns and this is something we are looking into. Right now, when you add names to a web form, it is added as a text value (rather than a contact). When you add names to a sheet, the sheet searches your contact list/account users/users assigned to tasks in other places in your sheet to assign the name to a Smartsheet contact. Right now, there web forms do not have the ability to search sheets, user's account or contact lists, which is why names entered on web forms are not associated with Smartsheet contacts.

Hi, In the meantime, is there a way to turn the created by cell into a contact column such that it can be used for resource assignment?

I have a sheet for booking holidays, but have to otherwise manually edit all submitted rows to get the contact recognised.

The link from a web form to a contact list is essential to some of the Smartsheet solutions we have created within our business. The additional administrative time it takes to clean up unlinked data is redundant and unnecessary.

 

Is this something that is currently in the works?

Id add my vote too.

I have a smartsheet where we paste info from an excel spreadhseet, even though I have listen the contact names before hand in previous cells/rows above, I still have to go through the pasted cells in the contact row and edit it for it to recognise the names again. Which is very poor in my opion.
