Alert Workflow removing external link

Hi there,

This may be a silly question as im just wrapping my head around smartsheet capabilities, however i have an alert workflow which triggers and the main goal is to provide a link to the correct sales landing page in my external website.

As seen in the screenshots below i have created a dynamic link within the sheet which leads me through the URL fine, however when I send an alert with a dynamic link to the same URL it is showing that external link has been removed.

Any advice on this would be much appreciated, could this have something to do with my current smartsheet plan?

Glad we tested it and noticed that it worked on my account, so it's probably a local security/firewall/security/mail issue/setting.

That is probably something set in your firewall/email program or similar.

I have tried both my work email and personal email receiving the same result.

I think it may be a permission within smartsheet itself, any ideas?

it is a link to our website, I have also tried multiple other links to common sites such as facebook or this smartsheet community. All with the same result. must be doing something wrong lol!

Try sending it on another network or/and computer to see if that works.

No luck still unfortunately, have you been able to generate external links through alert emails before? like there is the capability within smartsheets?

Yes, I've used it in multiple Client solutions, so it should work fine.

I'd be happy to take a quick look. (I'll test it in your sheet, but also try in mine)

Can you share the sheet(s)/copies of the sheet(s)? (Delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help. (share too, andree@workbold.com)

I am having the same issue and I can't tell what the fix was through the chain. I just want to include a link to my company's website in the alert message. However, the message says [External link removed].

This is currently expected if the emails are being sent from free, unlicensed, or trial accounts. Here's more information:

The sheet was created by a fully licensed user, however I am on a free trial. Does the licensed user need to create the workflow as well for this to send correctly?

Yes, I would recommend having the Licensed user create the workflow (they can Copy your current workflow). Then I would suggest ensuring that the emails sent are coming from the Sheet Owner, versus the user that made the change.
