It’s no longer January, but you know I love goal-setting and celebrating accomplishments. So, for this edition, I wanted to share a milestone of mine, and in turn, maybe hear a bit about one of yours. Deal? 😉

Last year, I checked a major item off my bucket list: visiting my first of the New Seven Wonders of the World, Chichén Itzá. (Bonus win: catching an eclipse from Mérida the night before!) Since this was the first trip I’ve ever organized entirely on my own, the learning curve was steep, yet I had fun with it. If you ever need Mérida recommendations, or just some fun facts, I’m right here for you!

Fun Fact: There is a cenote (a natural, water-filled sinkhole) located right in the parking lot of the Mérida Costco. You bet I had to go see that.

This year, I’m embarking on an arguably bigger adventure: I’m house hunting! 🏡🫣 Wish me luck. Much like last year’s trip, the process is teaching me A LOT.

As I am nearing my nephew's first birthday (St. Patrick's Day), your question reminded me that I wanted to make him a hat for when he was born. He is my first and only nibling and I knew I was going to spoil him rotten. So, I did what any passionate person with gifting as a love language would do - I learned to crochet. I made that little boy the cutest green hat by watching a YouTube video on .25x speed over and over and over again.

Unfortunately, he takes after his aunt and has quite the noggin on him 😅 so it was a little too small. But I was so excited to show it to him (you can see it on the side table in the picture of me holding him).

Side note - I had Celebration playing as I danced in my seat and typed out this comment 💃

Ooooh, good luck on the house hunting! We bought our house near the end of 2024 - the whole process is a nightmare. (At least for me. Super jealous of the folks that ENJOY house hunting.)

My team has been working to revamp a weekly update we send to look more like a newsletter. I ended up having to learn how to write and revise code within our email campaign software, which I really enjoyed! It's been a goal of mine for awhile to teach myself more coding basics, so it was really cool that I got to do this as a part of a current work project.

Oooh, teaching yourself coding basics for a specific project that needed is incredible, and very Overachiever behavior of you. 😉 Glad this project has become something you can enjoy and challenge yourself with — Perfect combo!

@Rebeca S. - How exciting and happy house hunting! My husband and I have lived in our house for 30 years, raised our three children, and are now experiencing the joy of being grandparents (we have five amazing grandchildren).

Over the years, I have set many goals, and I am proud to say that I have achieved the majority of them. But recently I have attempted (so far unsuccessfully) to crochet, but I never give up and I hope to learn it fairly soon as I would love to make blankets for all of the grandkids as a keepsake.

Making crochet blankets for the grandkids is such a nice goal, I'm cheering on you! I've spoken about crochet with various members recently (I want to learn too!), maybe there should be a Community crochet club. 😉

What is one goal—past or present—that has challenged you to learn something new?

Just closed escrow on a house. Learned so much during this process, and was so relieved when I finally had the keys in my hand. I am still packing boxes at the apartment, but in 2 weeks will be finished moving.

There are SO MANY people involved in a house purchase in 2026. When I bought my condo in 2005 I only spoke to 3 people - my realtor, my broker, and my inspector. Today the following people were involved…

Underwriter
My Realtor
My Realtor Assistant
Escrow Office
Escrow Notary
Home Inspector
Home Appraiser
